Abstract

This work provides an economic and ecological assessment of the application of biochar as soil amendment and identifies important influencing factors. Therefore, a multi-stage model including various methods, e.g. an ecosystem simulation of the soil, is developed. The assessment model is based on material and energy flow balances along the overall value chain – from biochar production to its application as soil amendment.

Abstract

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde das Herzstück eines Biosensorarraysystems auf der Basis von akustischen Oberflächenwellensensoren (engl. surface acoustic wave, SAW) entwickelt. Hierfür wurde ein spezielles Sensorgehäuse entwickelt, das ein leichtes Hantieren mit diesen Sensoren ermöglicht. Das System wurde durch eine integrierte einwegtaugliche Mikrofluidik ergänzt, welche als einwegtaugliche indirekte Fluidik ausgelegt wurde.

Abstract

Hydraulic structures are exposed to multifaceted exposures. Particular the hydro-abrasive wear of the concrete edge zones represents a key exposure. The knowledge about the abrasive mechanisms of concrete and its degradation process is still insufficient. Relating to the hydro-abrasive test method, the relevant material parameter and degradation model incomplete knowledge existed which was removed.

Abstract

Through qualitative social science the study analyses FabLabs and open source technologies and the respective collective procedures that produce and organise technology and knowledge that redefine the entanglement of our society and its technologies.

Abstract

The Helmholtz Association funded the ""Large-Scale Data Management and Analysis"" portfolio theme from 2012-2016. Four Helmholtz centres, six universities and another research institution in Germany joined to enable data-intensive science by optimising data life cycles in selected scientific communities. In our Data Life cycle Labs, data experts performed joint R&D together with scientific communities. The Data Services Integration Team focused on generic solutions applied by several communities.
