Abstract

Abstract

One of the main aims of modern mental health care is to understand a person's explicit and implicit ways of thinking and acting. So, it may seem like the ultimate paradox that mental health care services are currently overflowing with brain concepts belonging to the external, visible brain-world and that neuroscientists are poised to become new experts on human conduct. An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Human Mind shows that to create care that is truly innovative, mental health care workers must not only ask questions about how their conceptions of human beings and psychological phenomena came into being, but should also see themselves as co-creators of the mystery they seek to solve.

Abstract

Kurt Baschwitz (1886-1968) had a lifelong fascination for ‘the riddle of themass’ in both its visible and invisible forms. He was a major pioneer of communicationand media studies on the European continent, an early studentof the social, political, and mass psychology of crowds, publics, audiences, and public opinion, as well as a versatile social historian. Half a centuryafter his death, however, he risks being forgotten and misunderstood, fallingthrough the cracks of history.

Abstract

In contemporary understanding, the working areas of children's psychology are expanding considerably. The mental health of the children ensures that they are able to use their developmental abilities, cope with difficulties in life, be productive and be creative, and demonstrate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral characteristics appropriate to their developmental turn. This research was conducted to be able to identify behavioral disorders that may be a sign of children's mental problems and to shed light on the resolution of possible problems by facilitating the follow-up of psychosocial developments during the period of growth. This book presents an overview of the contemporary approaches in the departments of child education and psychology, with the hope of them growing up as happy, peaceful, balanced, thoughtful confident and successful individuals.

Many research fields are heading toward more precise process analyses in the era of big data and artificial intelligence. In particular, using innovative methods to analyze different human behaviors as well as understand specific behavioral patterns helps explore the structures and contexts in all kinds of human behaviors, which can serve as theoretical innovation and strategies to solve human problems. This book collects the latest behavior analysis research in different disciplines, including some methods or analysis examples.

Abstract

Lessons in Perception seeks to clarify notoriously elusive themes of the avant-garde with the use of existing research from the field of psychology. There is a long-standing history of reference to psychological concepts in relation to avant-garde film, such as its unique relationship to memory, visual perception, narrative comprehension, and synesthesia. Yet direct analysis of these topics in light of existing psychological research remains largely unexplored until now. More broadly, the aim of the book is to frame avant-garde filmmaking practice as a form of "practical psychology." In doing so, two principal arguments are proposed: first, that many avant-garde filmmakers draw creative inspiration from their own cognitive and perceptual capacities, and touch on topics explored by actual psychologists; secondly, that as practical psychologists, avant-garde filmmakers provide “lessons in perception” that offer psychological experiences that are largely unrehearsed in commercial cinema.

Abstract

Aging is characterized by functional decline in every organ due to several cellular, biological, and physiological changes over time. Molecular and cellular damages are gradually decreasing in the physical and mental capacities of the human body. Health results have shown that lifespan has dramatically increased during the twenty-first century. Increasing elderly population naturally deals with many health problems leading to a rise in health expenditure and labor loss. The good news is that the clinical trials in gene therapy have almost stopped and/or reversed human aging. Regenerative medicine can repair and reverse aging in all body cells. Thus, the body's own repair mechanisms may struggle with aging and age-related diseases. Research is promising and suggests that human aging will be eradicated on earth.

Abstract

"The present case study investigates stress and recovery of the Danish national under-20 ice hockey players during a training camp and the following World Championship. The aimswere to track their stress-recovery states longitudinally, and to map their main sources of stressand recovery. Methods included a survey, qualitative interviews and a coach diary. Results showedwell-balanced stress-recovery states during the entire period, and the athletes stated thatthis positively affected their well-being, and performance. The athletes’ perceived sources ofstress and recovery were classified into organizational, social, personal and athletic, with theorganizational decisions and strategies playing a major role in reducing unnecessary stress andproviding a good setting for engaging in recovery. The results lead us to suggest that coaches andmanagers be very mindful of the potential influence of their decisions on the athletes’ stress andrecovery when preparing training camps and participation in major competitions."

Abstract

Sporting and sport psychological accomplishments are an important part of Scandinavian culture. Psychological factors have been demonstrated to have a major impact on both participation and achievements in sport. Sport psychology is about precisely these factors. The diversity of sport psychology research in Scandinavia is presented for the first time in this scholarly volume. Contributors from key sport psychology research teams in Sweden, Denmark and Norway present resarch covering a wide range of issues in the book’s twelve chapters. By publishing the contributions collectively as an Open Access anthology, the authors wish to reach researchers in the field of sport psychology, sport psychology advisers and professionals throughout Scandinavia. The volume will also be relevant to anyone with any interest in sport. The editors of the book are Tommy Haugen and Rune Høigaard, who are both affiliated with the Department of Public Health, Sport and Nutrition in the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Agder.
