Abstract

Generally the nanometer scale covers from 1 to 100 nm while discussing the nanomaterials. Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary science that has its roots in fields such as colloidal science, device physics, and biomedical and supramolecular chemistry. Abstract

The book on Advanced Chemical Kinetics gives insight into different aspects of chemical reactions both at the bulk and nanoscale level and covers topics from basic to high class. This book has been divided into three sections: (i) ""Kinetics Modeling and Mechanism,"" (ii) ""Kinetics of Nanomaterials,"" and (iii) ""Kinetics Techniques."" The first section consists of six chapters with a variety of topics like activation energy and complexity of chemical reactions; the measurement of reaction routes; mathematical modeling analysis and simulation of enzyme kinetics; mechanisms of homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion for the fuels; photophysical processes and photochemical changes; the mechanism of hydroxyl radical, hydrate electron, and hydrogen atom; and acceptorless alcohol dehydrogenation. The understanding of the kinetics of nanomaterials, to bridge the knowledge gap, is presented in the second section. The third section highlights an overview of experimental techniques used to study the mechanism of reactions.

Abstract

The nanofiltration technique lies between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis techniques, and it is considered a low-cost process and is capable of removing pesticides, organic matter, desalination of sea water, oil process and pollutants from industrial wastewater. However, the main challenge in implementation of nanofiltration membrane is its ability towards fouling and low performance at high temperature. The use of nanoparticles in the manufacturing of membranes allows for a high degree of control over membrane fouling. Nanoparticle-based membranes can be developed by assembling engineered nanoparticles into porous membranes or blending them with polymeric or inorganic membranes. This book covers topics from multiple ranges from manufacturing of nanofiltration membranes and their applications in wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, and removal of pollutants, to addressing the fouling issues.

Abstract

Nanomedicine is the application of nanotechnology in medicines at an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular level. Nanomedicine covers a wide range of topics from the development of nanomaterials for use in medicines to the synthesis of nanomedicines with their multiple applications. The major focus of the book is on developments in nanomedicines and their effectiveness compared to conventional drugs. Some drugs are administered twice daily for days and weeks. However, the frequency of administration and dosage of drugs can be reduced to increase patient compliance when prepared at the nanoscale level with polymers, etc. This book contains five chapters from leading scientists working in the area of nanomedicines.
