Abstract

Two outstanding representatives of Russian modernism - Andrei Belyy for the movement of symbolism, Osip Mandel'tam for acmeism - chose the Caucasus as a tourist destination for their travels in the last decade of their lives within the borders of the Soviet Union. For both, the cultural-historical context was crucial in several ways in this choice. It concerns, on the one hand, the poet's own person and his cultural awareness, which refers to his integration into traditional contexts both in Russian and in world culture. Abstract

Already the first approach to Henry von Heiseler (1875-1928), whether from a literary-historical or a translatological perspective, shows the prevalence of the dramatic in his own work as well as in his translation work. So far, the corresponding Russian part of the latter was represented by Puskin-Heiseler's opus magnum in this area- and Vajaceslav Ivanov. With the first edition of the translations of Dramen Fedor Sologubs (The Victory of Death and The Wise Bee Gift) and Osip Dymov's (Nju.Eine everyday tragedy) Heiseler's further involvement with the Russian contemporary drama de modernity is documented.

Abstract

Two contributions here are seeking access to the continuation of a temporarily buried Petersburg tradition in a European space on the example of the German-speaking poet Henry von Heiseler. That "his" Puškin is to be understood in this frame of interpretation as a cultural symbol with identity-forming and dialogical potential and not just as a "translat" reflects the positions of the said translator.
