Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) makes it possible to bring information to everyone who wants to learn. Rapid advances in technology offer strong support for using ICT in teaching. Online education can intensify and improve students' learning process, and enables us to reach more students than by traditional means. The number of courses and modules being offered online is increasing rapidly worldwide. Although online education can reach more people nowadays and new and challenging learning experiences can be created with it, in the average university course the digital dimension too often remains limited to simply publishing the existing face-to-face course content online. It is crucial that lecturers have and can obtain knowledge about how to design technology-enhanced teaching. Technical advances can be expected to continue in the future, and those who wish to implement educational technology in their own teaching practice must reckon on becoming lifelong learners. This fits the culture of academic teachers perfectly: they are already lifelong learners and creators of new knowledge within their discipline. This book is based on the notion that a lecturer who uses ICT in teaching must learn how to apply his or her knowledge about content, pedagogy and technology in an integrated manner. The idea of integrating these three types of knowledge is based on the TPACK model, which stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge model. The material for this book was developed in a Dutch higher education innovation project known as MARCHET (Make Relevant Choices in Educational Technology, MARCHET, 2009-2011).

Abstract

Jüngste Entwicklungen im Medienbereich, oft umschrieben mit dem Begriff ""Web 2.0"", führten zu tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in Studium. Die empirische Untersuchung beschreibt die Nutzung von 43 verschiedenen Medienangeboten (Web 2.0-Dienste, Printmedien und E-Learning-Angebote) durch 1.500 Studierende. Auf Basis der Ergebnisse werden Zusammenhänge der Medienakzeptanz mit verschiedenen Faktoren (Lernverhalten, soziodemographische Größen) aufgezeigt und eine Medientypologie des Studiums entworfen.

Abstract

Der Erstellungsaufwand multimedialer Lernangebote kann durch die Wiederverwendung bestehender Materialien deutlich reduziert werden. Wie aber kann das Auffinden solcher wiederverwendbaren Lernressourcen unterstützt werden? Der Autor stellt ein Retrieval-Verfahren vor, das SCORM-basierte Informationen zu Lernobjekten und Kursstrukturen entdeckt, analysiert und verwertet. Auf Grundlage dieser Daten werden für Lehrende als auch Lernende hilfreiche Such- und Empfehlungsdienste angeboten.

Abstract

This book maps out a course through the methodological and technological innovations of internet-based training, setting the emphasis on the collaborative character of experiences of learning and on the interactivity of the virtual workshops. On the one hand, this underscores the possibilities offered by the net to make available educational modes centred on the social process that enables learning in an active manner, rather than on the centrality of contents to be passively transferred to the students. On the other hand, it also shows how in the virtual workshops it is possible to develop one's understanding of the phenomena that are the subject of learning as a result of the interaction with the phenomena themselves, reproduced in the computer, acting upon them and observing the consequences of one's own actions. The effect is to underline how this type of model of learning can help to overcome the technology gap between different countries and social groups (the digital divide) and also to make learning more accessible even to disabled students.

Digital games are a significant element in the digital media and information society. They influence the development of media technologies as well as interface design, online social interaction and new evaluation approaches.The Fourth Symposium for Information Design focused on the question of how game based learning environments can motivate and stimulate learners in different situations, and improve learning. Abstract

Sowohl für die etablierten als auch für potenzielle neue Akteure im Bildungswesen ist gegenwärtig eine systematische Planung bzw. Analyse ihrer Aktivitäten angesichts der sich wandelnden Wertschöpfungs- und Wettbewerbsstrukturen von hoher Relevanz. Peter Weber zeigt in dieser Arbeit exemplarisch für den Hochschulbereich auf der Basis des diesbezüglich in der Betriebswirtschaftslehre anerkannten Instruments der Geschäftsmodellanalyse Ansatzpunkte für eine Lern-Service-spezifische Interpretation des integrierten Geschäftsmodellansatzes auf. Die besonderen Herausforderungen liegen dabei zum einen in der für eine solche Betrachtung notwendigen ökonomischen Interpretation der implizit thematisierten Bildungsangebote, für die der Begriff der Lern-Services entwickelt wird. Zum anderen zeichnet sich das Handlungsfeld von Lern-Service-Anbietern durch eine Interdisziplinarität aus, die neben der Berücksichtigung ökonomischer auch die Berücksichtigung didaktischer Aspekte notwendig macht.
