Technological developments have enabled a dramatic expansion and also an evolution of telework, broadly defined as using ICTs to perform work from outside of an employer’s premises. This volume offers a new conceptual framework explaining the evolution of telework over four decades. It reviews national experiences from Argentina, Brazil, India, Japan, the United States, and ten EU countries regarding the development of telework, its various forms and effects. It also analyses large-scale surveys and company case studies regarding the incidence of telework and its effects on working time, work-life balance, occupational health and well-being, and individual and organizational performance.

At the end of the 1970s West Germany`s foreign minister Genscher faced the challenge of defending the Social-Liberal coalition`s policy of dètente against the approaching Second Cold War.&#8206 The unique features of his communication policy were demonstrated in his responses to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the Polish crisis. The author sees the basis for his long-term success as stemming from a specific Genscher system.

Education in Scotland is markedly different from what happens in the rest of the UK - with a different National Curriculum, school boards to oversee school management and a General Teaching Council which has been in existence since 1965. Whilst there are many examples of successful and innovative practice in Scotland, the system is quite often not recognised as different by writers who talk about the UK education system as if it were one smooth whole. La définition du champ statistique de la culture a fait l’objet de travaux européens de 2009 à 2011, après que les nomenclatures nationales (nomenclature d’activités françaises, NAF Rév. 2) et européenne (nomenclature statistique des activités économiques dans la Communauté européenne, NACE Rév. 2) ont été rénovées en 2008. Sous l’égide d’Eurostat, l’Office statistique de l’Union européenne, un groupe de travail européen (Task Force 1) a conçu la structure du nouveau cadre statistique européen constitué d’une trentaine d’activités culturelles, dans un souci d’harmonisation des outils méthodologiques et pour garantir une meilleure comparabilité des résultats publiés. Le cadre européen s’insère dans le cadre international défini par l’Unesco pour les statistiques culturelles et croise dix domaines culturels – patrimoine culturel, archives, bibliothèques, livre et presse, arts plastiques, audiovisuel et multimédia, architecture, création publicitaire, artisanat d’art – avec six fonctions économiques : création, production et édition, diffusion et commercialisation, conservation, formation, administration et management culturels. La publication revient sur les différentes nomenclatures existantes en France, en Europe et à l’échelon international et précise leur principe d’emboîtement. Publiée conjointement dans la collection « Culture études » du DEPS, Approche statistique européenne de la culture est la synthèse des travaux du réseau européen de statistique ESSnet-Culture et vient compléter utilement le présent document méthodologique.

Consular offices were protective authorities of domestic commercial interests. Its reports ans analyses were important bases for political decisions. A short general compilation about development, training, duties, rights, and social and human aspects is followed by 617 careers, mostly gathered from sources of the archives of Vienna. This study for the first time presents a biographical reference work for consular practics in one of the five european powers of the era between 1825 and 1918.
